Taras Mykhavko, the next Ukrainian center back

Taras Mykhavko was born in 2005 in Dobrogostiv, Ukraine. Back in the 22/23 season he made his professional debut for PFK Lviv in the Ukrainian Premier League, a team that disappeared that same season. He played in the last four matches of that season starting two of those games.

After the disappearance of that team he joined Dinamo Kyiv but didn’t play a single match until February 2024 after the winter break. He played four matches as a starter but suffered an injury that took him away for five matches. He returned for three games in the starting lineup and featured in the final game only 16 minutes. He appeared in eight matches that season but didn’t lost a match, winning seven matches.

He was a regular starter for the U19 Ukrainian national team playing five of the six U19 Euros qualifiers, the only match that didn’t featured was because he had an excess of yellow cards. He helped with the qualification of Ukraine to the U19 Euros and was in the starting eleven all of those matches. Ukraine finished second in the group stage and lost against France by 1-0.

This season he’s played four matches in the UCL qualifiers, failing to pass against RB Salzburg, and three matches in the Ukrainian Premier League (out of three).

He’s a defensive wall only centered in not conceding goals as he hasn’t still scored or assist for his team, he’s only scored a goal and an assist in the U19 Euros qualifiers. It’s strange that he wasn’t called by the U21 NT or the Nations League due to his magnificent performances, but he’ll be on the NT sooner than later.
