Schalke is on the road to face bottom of the table Jahn Regensburg.
In their first encounter this season Schalke won 2-0.
Regensburg who has struggled all season are coming off an huge defeat last week to Elversberg 6-0.
As the match starts Regensburg comes out attacking and get some quality chances at net.
Within the 2nd minute Regensburg after a foul set up the set piece and from the delivery, Ballas heads the ball at goal but Heekeren is there to make the save.
Schalke again are off to a slow start as they are having issues even just trying to string passes together to build up a attack.
Schalke have been using the right side of the pitch to their advantage as Bulut, who is back from dealing with the flu for the last few weeks has been very active sending balls into the area, but unfortunately with no clear outcomes on goal from his set ups.
Schalke have shown promise on that right hand side, but Regensburg have been using the middle of the field to their advantage and in the 21st minute, Regensburg are rewarded as the first shot from the corner is stopped by Heekeren but he can't hold on to the ball and the ball is rebounded back into the box, as Christian Kühlwetter is just inside the box on the right side he gets the ball holds on to it for a second and is able to put the ball into the back of the net past a diving Heekeren
REGENSBURG 1 - SCHALKE 0
From the kickoff the ball is back to Heekeren and unfortunately his shakey form is still present, as he plays a horrible pass directly to the Regensburg player and he takes the shot quickly but the ball just goes past the goal line and travels out by the post for a Schalke goal kick.
Heekeren had played well at the beginning of the season except for a few mistakes and after early on in the season when the newly loaned out keeper Hoffmann was in net, Heekeren showed why he should be the starting keeper, but since the transfer window in the winter and the arrival of Karius, Heekeren looks to have lost alot of confidence in net.
Schalke look to be getting frustrated as within ten minutes Schalke have received three yellow cards now, with Seguin at the 24th minute followed by Bulut and then Aydin at the 34th minute.
In the 36th minute Heekeren looks strong again in goal as he makes a huge diving save to his left from a fast paced Regensburg shot just inside the box.
As the match is just about to reach half time, Schalke finally record their first shot on goal, as Aydin takes a long- range attempt which is easily saved.
HALF TIME
REGENSBURG 1 - SCHALKE 0
The match resumes and it is still a battle in the midfield.
Schalke still trying to build up play for a attack but Regensburg is well positioned to stop the build up.
In the 67th minute another Schalke Knappenschmiede player makes his senior team and first 2.Bundesliga match, with Tidi Touré from the U23's making his debut and being subbed in for Bulut in the right back position.
What could have been a fantastic debut in the 83rd minute as Touré has a chance at the edge of the box but he is not able to make full contact on the ball and his shot bounces wide of the goal.
So far that play was the highlight of this match for Schalke fans as Touré had a chance to score on his debut.
As Schalke continues to limp through this match, Regensburg will insult Schalke even more with a solo effort at goal in the 90th minute.
At the 93rd mark Regensburg get the counter-attack as Dejan Galjen wins possession in the centre circle and charges down the centre of the pitch towards Heekeren, he holds the ball waits for Heekeren to make a move and then is able to slide the ball through Heekeren's legs just near the top of the box and the ball does the long solo roll into the back of the net.
REGENSBURG 2 - SCHALKE 0
FULL TIME
With that goal the match ends and Bottom of the table Regensburg come out and defeat a Schalke side that just didn't bother to show up today.
Schalke with only two very weak shots at goal recorded and Regensburg with 7.
Schalke should be absolutely embarrassed by this performance, as this looks like they will just not even bother to show up for the final matches of this season where they have no where to go in the table, and today was simply a horrible match display against a side that is headed back down to the third division.
Next up for Schalke will be Hamburg, a team fighting for the 2.Bundesliga title.
Who will show up next Saturday?
