RJOO, a promising Dutch keeper

Actualizado: 15 sept

Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro is a Dutch-Ghanaian goalkeeper from AZ Alkmaar born in 2004. He’s the keeper that won the UEFA Youth League for AZ in the 22/23 season conceding six goals and five clean sheets. That same season was his first one in the Keuken Kampionen Divisie featuring in 14 matches but he conceded 26 goals.

In the 23/24 season he made a step up in his career playing 17 matches in the second tier conceding 34 goals and 3 clean sheets. He also featured for the first time in the Eredivisie playing four matches and conceding seven goals. He also played in the UEFA Conference League one game conceding two goals.

But this season so far has been his best one. He’s played two matches for the U21 Euro qualifiers conceding just one goal. He also played one match in the Keuken Kampionen Divisie conceding one goal. However, the best part is in the Eredivisie where he’s played three matches and three clean sheets making it easy the decision for who should be the first goalkeeper for AZ.

He’s been evolving so far in his career and surely is going to get even better for this young keeper so let’s hope he continues at this pace.
