Real Sociedad Future: The Croatian Connection

Actualizado: 21 sept

Luka Sučić and Luka Petrović are two emerging talents at Real Sociedad, poised to make a significant impact on the team in the coming seasons.

Luka Petrović, a 16-year-old Croatian-Swedish forward, joined Real Sociedad’s U19 squad in January 2024. Known for his versatility as a center-forward and second striker, Petrovic has represented Croatia at the U16 level, showcasing his potential on the international stage. His technical skills and scoring ability make him a promising prospect for the club, and he is expected to develop further within Real Sociedad’s youth system. He’s of Croatian roots being born and raised in Sweden so he is still eligible to represent the Blue and Yellow of Sweden.

Luka Sučić, a 21-year-old Croatian midfielder, recently completed a high-profile move to Real Sociedad from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around €10 million, this is a low fee for Luka as he was on the last year of his contract with Salzburg so he only went for a little transfer fee.

Years prior Luka Sučić was wanted by the like of Liverpool, AC Milan and many more top European teams. Sucic brings experience from both the UEFA Champions League and the European Championship, making him a valuable addition to the team’s midfield. His ability to play multiple roles in the midfield and his creative playmaking are expected to boost Real Sociedad’s ambitions in both domestic and European competitions. Sučić signed a long-term contract with the club, signaling their confidence in his future contributions. The potential sale of Mikel Merino to Arsenal will open up a central midfield position that Sučić could potentially fill.

Both players are seen as future pillars of the team, with the potential to lead Real Sociedad to new heights in the years to come. Their development should be closely watched by fans and analysts alike, as they aim to solidify their places in the first team. Sučić ability to step up and secure playing time will be aided by these squad changes, making his move to Real Sociedad a critical step in his development as a player. The club’s strategy to bring in young talent while allowing experienced players to leave creates an opportunity for Sučić to establish himself in La Liga.
