Konstantinos Kostoulas - a prolific CB to watch

Konstantinos Kostoulas is a Greek defender born in 2005 and after a great season with Olympiacos B and the U19 team he gained an opportunity at Rio Ave U23 in a loan spell.

But what did he do in the last season and why is someone to watch in the Liga Revelaçao?

He was mainly part of the U19 team, in the UEFA Youth League he played every single match and every single minute to lift the trophy. This trophy was a very important milestone in the Greek football as it was the first team ever to win an international troph. Konstantinos scored a goal against Lecce, who won the Primavera league, in the first round. They also won some great teams like Inter, Bayern München and Milan in the final.

He also won the Super League U19 which was their sixth league, playing 22 matches as starter only missing three matches, one of them due to yellow cards. He scored three goals which isn’t bad for a defender. After the UYL win, alongside his brother Charalampos, he played three matches for Olympiacos B as a starter. Across 34 matches he received 11 yellow cards so he needs to become calmer in defensive situations.

The only thing left for him was playing the U19 Euro qualifiers with Greece but I’m sure he’ll play for the NT in the near future.

Then after the season ended he was given an opportunity to play as a loanee for Rio Ave U23 and with four matches at the moment he’s doing an amazing job. He has played the four matches as a starter and has scored four goals, which makes him the goalscorer of the team being a defender. And still hasn’t received any yellow cards.

At the pace he’s going maybe by January he’ll get some minutes in the first team and by the end of the season he could be a starter for Rio Ave. Let’s hope he keeps his pace and follows the path of legends like Franz Beckenbauer as a goalscorer defender.
