Keita Kosugi, the only Japanese in Sweden

Actualizado: 7 oct

I watched all the games of the U17 World Cup 2023 and Kosugi was surely one to watch. He was the captain of the team that won the U17 Asian Cup winning five matches out of six, only drawing against Uzbekistan. In the World Cup he won two games and lost two games, against Spain and Argentina, making a remarkable tournament.

Everyone was watching Gaku Nawata, I still watch him, but Kosugi is having a greater start for his career. The 2006 born left back signed for Djurgården in the Allsvenskan back in March 2024, but it wasn’t until May when he debuted playing the final minutes of the match. In July he started his first match and played all the ninety minutes.

He jumped into the second match of the UEFA Conference League qualifiers and starting in the five remaining matches to help Djurgården to qualify to the Conference League.

He’s achieved two assists so far, one in the qualifiers and one in the Allsvenskan from the bench. He’s played the last three league matches as a starter and is claiming his spot as an undeniable starter for the team. I forecast him a nice market value in the next weeks and a great career.
