As the 2023/24 2.Bundesliga season came to a end, Schalke had saved themselves from lingering in the relegation zone for most of the season and secured safety.
With a clear direction heading into this 24/25 season with all new management, Schalke have had one of the most busiest 2024 summer transfer seasons.
FC Schalke 04 have sold and departed ways with several key players.
The big move was with future German star Assan Ouédraogo, with lots of rumours on teams he may join, he ended up joining RB Leipzig.
One of Schalke's best players of the past season was goalkeeper Marius Müller, who after coming back from injury provided Schalke with the goalkeeping stability they needed, he has now fulfilled his desire to play in the Bundesliga and has made the move to Wolfsburg.
Other key departures for Schalke this summer; Keke Topp ( Werder Bremen), Thomas Ouwejan, Danny Latza, Blendi Idrizi, Leo Greiml, Cedric Brunner, Steven van der Sloot, Jimmy Kaparos.
Yusuf Kabadayi, Darko Churlinov and Brandon Soppy will return to their clubs following the loan spells.
And finally, 2.Bundesliga all time goal scoring leader Simon Terodde, who made the announcement last season that he would retire.
Schalke had a big task to now bring in almost a entire new squad that head trainer Karel Geraerts could work with.
The new faces Schalke have added are;
Speedy forward from Pau, Moussa Sylla, who has had a impressive training camp. A duo from Eintracht Braunschweig, keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffman and Anton Donkor. Defender Felipe Sànchez from Gimnasia. Midfielder Janik Bachmann, defender Adrian Gantendein, defender Martin Wasinski, Amin Younes, Tidiane Touré from Köln, Hong Seok-ju, striker Peter Remmert, Mamady Diawara from Club Brugge, and finally a young prospect who's brothers have shown great quality, Dannish forward Emil Højlund from FC Kobenhavn.
Schalke, with all of the summer moves have also named their top goal scorer from last season, and also best player of the 23/24 season named by the club, Kenan Karaman as the new team Captain.
With all the moves it will now be up to Karel Geraerts to work on getting Schalke back to the Bundesliga.
